When they launched the first commercial IPTV service at NBTel in 1999, the founders at Mariner identified a problem. Traditional “network-centric” monitoring, based on “transport” metrics (e.g., packet-loss) collected from reliable core network devices, does not take the customer’s view of the service into consideration,  Without  this “customer-centric” view, it is impossible to fully optimize the use of support assets and therefore, to accurately correlate customer activity to market churn.

In the creation of the xVu platform, Mariner ensured that a customer centric view was a core element and leveraged the continuous best practice learnings amassed from years of working directly with Service Providers to optimize the business impact of the xVu solution.
